CALL FOR SESSION PROPOSALS

Proposal Deadline: Extended! December 15, 2004
PROCEDURES FOR SUBMITTING SESSION PROPOSALS
Option One: On-Line Submission
- LOG ON to the ACRES Conference Proposal System. You must complete the online Proposal Application in its entirety-incomplete applications will not be accepted. If you experience difficulty submitting this proposal application online, please contact Dr. Ronda Menlove via e-mail at inquiries at acres-sped.org
- CONFIRMATION: You will receive a confirmation number when we receive your proposal.
- DEADLINES: Proposals MUST be received no later than December 15, 2004. Late submissions will be considered if program space permits.
- You will be notified of your Proposal Status by December 17, 2004.
- PROCEEDINGS: Presenters are encouraged to write a paper for the conference proceedings publication. Papers are limited to 8 single spaced pages and are due by February 21, 2005.
Option Two: Paper Submission
- APPLICATION: Send two copies of the Application for Presentation
- ABSTRACT: Send two copies of a typed abstract (500-700 words) of your proposed presentation on 8 ½ x 11 paper. Do not include authors' names, handouts, or program materials with the abstract. We recommend that you organize your abstract according to the following headings:
- Title of presentation
- Purpose of presentation (why is this important and who is the target audience)
- Objectives of the presentation (what are you planning to do)
- Rural focus (how is this different from what is presented at other conferences)
- Practical applications (how can your results/strategies be used by others)
- Relationship to the conference theme
- Information (data or theoretical base) to support what is advocated.
- CONFIRMATION: Enclose a stamped, self-addressed postcard or e-mail address if you wish to be notified of the receipt of your proposal (optional).
SELECTION PROCESS
- Each complete proposal will undergo an anonymous review process. The following criteria will be used:
- Is the proposal well organized: Does the proposal follow the specified format?
- Does the proposal relate to the conference theme?
- Is the proposal of high quality?
- Does the proposal lend itself to practical implementation/replication?
- Is the proposal specifically rural?
- Does the proposal provide an empirical or theoretical base?
- Is the proposal clear as to what the presenter(s) will provide for the audience?
- Does the topic have appeal to an audience of rural educators, administrators, related service personnel, teacher trainers, policy makers, and/or parents?
REMEMBER FOR 2005 CONFERENCE
- ALL presenters and co-presenters must register for the conference. Due to budgetary considerations, it is not possible to offer either an honorarium or a waiver of registration fees to program presenters.
- The principal presenter is responsible for keeping all co-presenters informed of all correspondence from ACRES
