PROCEDURES FOR SUBMITTING SESSION PROPOSALS
Option One: On-Line Submission
- Visit the ACRES Online Conference Proposal System. You must complete the online Proposal Application in its entirety. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. If you experience difficulty submitting this proposal application online, please contact Jared Stein via e-mail at stein at cc dot usu dot edu
- CONFIRMATION: You will receive a confirmation number when we receive your proposal.
- DEADLINES: Proposals MUST be received no later than December 16, 2005. Late submissions will be considered if program space permits.
- You will be notified of your proposal status by January 5, 2006.
- PROCEEDINGS: Presenters are encouraged to write a paper for the conference proceedings publication. Papers are limited to 8 single spaced pages and are due by February 4, 2006.

Option Two: Paper Submission
- APPLICATION: Send two copies of the Application for Presentation
- ABSTRACT: Send two copies of a typed abstract (500-700 words) of your proposed presentation on 8 ½ x 11 paper. Do not include authors' names, handouts, or program materials with the abstract. We recommend that you organize your abstract according to the following headings:
- Title of presentation
- Purpose of presentation (why is this important and who is the target audience)
- Objectives of the presentation (what are you planning to do)
- Rural focus (how is this different from what is presented at other conferences)
- Practical applications (how can your results/strategies be used by others)
- Relationship to the conference theme
- Information (data or theoretical base) to support what is advocated.
- CONFIRMATION: Enclose a stamped, self-addressed postcard or e-mail address if you wish to be notified of the receipt of your proposal (optional).
SELECTION PROCESS
- Each complete proposal will undergo an anonymous review process. The following criteria will be used:
- Is the proposal well organized: Does the proposal follow the specified format?
- Does the proposal relate to the conference theme?
- Is the proposal of high quality?
- Does the proposal lend itself to practical implementation/replication?
- Is the proposal specifically rural?
- Does the proposal provide an empirical or theoretical base?
- Is the proposal clear as to what the presenter(s) will provide for the audience?
- Does the topic have appeal to an audience of rural educators, administrators, related service personnel, teacher trainers, policy makers, and/or parents?
